When contemplating where you should get married exactly can be affected by all kinds of things the main factor in most couples being that of religion. This is especially in the case of those that have cross religion relationships such a Christians with Muslims. Below are some examples of weddings in different religious back grounds and also where they are held;
Christian – this is thought to be one of the more traditional forms of marriage in the UK. These type of weddings are normally held in the couples local parish and if they are not regular attendees of a specific church then it would usually be the church nearest to where they live, of course if there is certain reason as to why the couple wish to be married in a church that is not their regular church or their local one it would be the decision of the priest at that church whether to carry out the service for the couple. It is also depends on what kind of Christian faith you follow as to how strict the regulations are on marriage for example the restrictions are slightly tougher if you are a Roman Catholic. It is a tradition in Christianity that there is no sexual intercourse before marriage but that is not always the case today as relationships tend to get more serious in earlier stages.Muslim marriage – this faith is very traditional in its ways and it is generally the parents of the couple that arrange the marriage for them and the couple simply have the final say in who they want to marry. It is also thought that a Muslim woman should not get married outside of her faith, so if in an arranged marriage situation the woman would always marry a Muslim man.
If the man accepts the marriage proposal then he should then give her a gift traditionally money or gold for her to use as she wishes. Then the engagement period lasts around 3 months and in this time the couple can only be in the same room as one another if the woman’s father or brother is in the room also, and she must also be fully covered.
There are plenty of different religions and each one has its on traditions in the way a marriage should be carried out. There are now even marriages for homosexual people but are known as Civil Partnerships and take place in registry offices.
